Vertical heterophoria is a specific type of binocular vision dysfunction involving a vertical misalignment between the two eyes.
Recent research literature supports the prescribing of prism in certain symptomatic patients for small amounts of vertical misalignment not previously measurable with standard clinical tests [1].
