Light Sensitivity Treatment
Light sensitivity (photosensitivity) is a common symptom of mild traumatic brain injury. Although the exact cause is still unknown, it is believed to result from disruptions in the visual processing pathways of the brain, which may become hypersensitive to light stimuli after injury.
Treatment of light sensitivity includes minimizing exposure to trigger light sources. Research also supports the use of wavelength-specific tinted lenses to in individuals suffering from traumatic brain injuries and migraines[1]. Management of binocular vision dysfunction may also reduce light sensitivity.
